The Memorial Garden planned to be installed in St. Mary’s churchyard is to benefit everyone in the village. It will enable ashes to be perpetually interred in the churchyard with the names recorded in the church’s Book of Remembrance that will be displayed in the church. This is great news, but it is going to cost a lot of money around £11,000!!
Rev Bill Day, Peter Upward & Shaun Francis are going to get on their bikes and do something about it. The plan is to cycle the whole way around the mainland part of the diocese, a distance of some 130 miles, on the weekend beginning Friday 26th August. They will be seeking people to sponsor them and every penny given will go towards funding the Memorial Garden.
How you can help:-
- By sponsoring them, and there are sponsor forms for you to do this at the back of the church, or through contacting firstname.lastname@example.org 01489 564035.
- By taking one of the sponsor forms and asking your contacts, especially amongst the many local groups and organisations, to sponsor them as well.
- By joining them on the ride and developing your own network of sponsorships.
If we do this together, we can do it, and the whole village will have a wonderful new facility at its heart where our loved ones can be properly remembered.
